Biking around the lakes in Lombardia

 A wonderful lakes region, with beautiful landscapes and important historical sites. A tour for everybody who loves cycling and being in contact with nature. Have a nice trip!

 

Day 1

Welcome to Milan. Our assistant will welcome you at the arrival area of the airport Milan Malpensa. Private transfer to reach Peschiera del Garda. Check in your hotel and freshen up. Free time. Dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 2

Leisurely wake up and continental breakfast at the hotel. Meeting our assistant who will introduce you to the details of your stay in Lombardia. Start the cycle-tour and, after 72 km, stop in Brescia, a city situated at the foot of the Alps, between the Mella and the Naviglio. The ancient city of Brixia has been an important regional centre since pre-Roman times and a number of Roman and medieval monuments are preserved, among the latter the prominent castle. The city is at the centre of the third-largest Italian industrial area, concentrating on mechanical and automotive engineering and machine tools, as well as the Beretta arms firm. Check in your hotel and freshen up. Dinner and overnight.  

 

Day 3

Leisurely wake up and continental breakfast at the hotel. Leave Brescia toward Bergamo. After 71 km stop in the city, where the foothills of the Alps begin immediately north of the town. Bergamo occupies the site of the ancient town of Bergomum, founded as a settlement of the Celtic tribe of Cenomani. For its contribution to "Il Risorgimento" the city is also known as "Città dei Mille" ("City of the Thousand"). During the 20th century Bergamo become one of Italy's most industrialized cities. It is also one of the few Italian cities that did not suffer major destruction during World War II. Check in your hotel and freshen up. Dinner and overnight.  

 

Day 4

Leisurely wake up and continental breakfast at the hotel. Leave Bergamo toward the Iseo Lake. Lake Iseo is the fourth largest lake in Lombardy, fed by the Oglio river. It is in the north of the country in the Val Camonica area. In the middle of the lake is Monte Isola (or Montisola), a small island reachable only by boat. The landscape of the lake is wonderful: this is one of the most relaxing places of Italy. Leave Iseo toward Lecco, which lies at the end of the south-eastern branch of Lake Como. The Bergamo Alps rise to the north and east, cut through by the Valsassina of which Lecco marks the southern end. Check in your hotel and freshen up. Dinner and overnight.  

 

Day 5

Leisurely wake up and continental breakfast at the hotel. Leave Lecco toward the Como Lake after 55 km. Lake Como is a lake of glacial origin. It has an area of 146 km², making it the third largest lake in Italy, after Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. It is one of the deepest lakes in Europe, and the bottom of the lake is more than 200 metres below sea-level. Lake Como has been a popular retreat for aristocrats and wealthy people since Roman times, and a very popular tourist attraction with many artistic and cultural gems. It has many villas and palaces (such as Villa Olmo, Villa Serbelloni, and Villa Carlotta). Many celebrities have or had homes on the shores of Lake Como, such as Matthew Bellamy, Madonna, George Clooney. Lake Como is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy. Day 6

Leisurely wake up and continental breakfast at the hotel. Leave Como toward the lake Maggiore. This is a large lake located on the south side of the Alps. It is the second largest lake in Italy and largest lake of the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. The climate is mild in both summer and winter, producing Mediterranean vegetation, with beautiful gardens growing rare and exotic plants. Well-known gardens include those of the Isola Madre, Isola Bella and the Isole di Brissago, that of the Villa Taranto in Verbania, and the Alpinia botanical garden above Stresa. Check in your hotel and freshen up. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 7

Leisurely wake up and continental breakfast at the hotel. Check out and depart by a private transfer to reach your next destination or airport.
